I’m giving away Sassy Birds fine-art prints! Want one? You’ll need to be on my FIRST LOOK email list. Keep reading for the details.
Remember when you could insult your best friend and she’d know you loved her?
When calling someone an asshole was practically a term of endearment? The more you liked someone, the more grief you gave them. And everyone else knew it too. Even the most vicious of insults would get an approving nod from someone nearby. Yep. Those two get each other.
Some of us never grew out of it.
And that’s pretty much the spirit behind my Sassy Birds. Beautifully painted birds saying the inappropriate things you and your best friend are both thinking. And you damn well know everyone else is thinking them too, but nobody wants to get in trouble because Janine from HR will tell on you like the sneaky little weasel she is.
For God’s sake, Janine. It’s a joke. Get a sense of humour. You’re the problem here, not hilarious Jen over there.
Nobody needs another inspirational poster with some poor kitten hanging precariously from a branch telling you to “Hang in there!”
For the love of all that is holy, somebody help the kitten. That’s just cruel.
Some of us would much rather have a bird that says what we’re all thinking. Especially about people.
Oh, people. Why do you people so?
Not Safe for Work. Frequently Found at Work.

Most of my Sassy Birds are technically NSFW. And yet, there they are, hanging in people’s offices, saying exactly what everyone else is thinking.
I’ve had them turn up in professional offices, supervisors’ offices, and workplaces where you’d think someone might object.
But that’s the beauty of a Sassy Bird. You don’t have to say a damn thing. The bird’s already said it for you.
The Birds Are Back!
I’m bringing back some old favourites and introducing a few new troublemakers as oversized playing-card fine-art prints, launching November 6.
I’ve been searching for a Canadian fine-art print studio capable of producing oversized, double-sided playing cards without compromising on quality. And that’s proving a little more complicated than you might think.
I want substantial, heavyweight paper, beautiful colour reproduction, and a professional finish that does justice to the original artwork but in playing card format- features the artwork on the front and a custom-designed back that I illustrated myself.
Finally putting that Sheridan College illustration education to good use. Only took me 25 years.
Which means I’ll have a few professionally printed, and perfectly lovely pieces of test prints to GIVE AWAY!!!
Who Needs Some Free Im-Moral Support?
I’ll be giving away some of the early 8 × 11-inch fine-art test prints I’m using to check colours, materials, and overall presentation. They’ll be beautiful prints in their own right, but might have a few minor flaws or look a slightly different from the final run.
They’re too good to waste, but I wouldn’t feel right selling them as finished editions. So, to celebrate the Sassy Birds launch, I’m giving them away!
So if you’ve got a partner in crime who could use a little im-moral support hanging in her home or office, send her over to First Look. That’s where the giveaway happens.
I’ll just randomly be giving them away as the prints arrive.
