September Cocktails & Canvases is BOO-gie Punk👻

Why I’m Skipping the Studio Tour (and What I’m Doing Instead)

This year, I won’t be in the Apples & Arts Studio Tour.

It’s not because I don’t love sharing my art with the world. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. I want to share it better. I’m over the crowds that just wander by, treating art like background noise. Some might offer a polite head nod, while others skitter past as if avoiding a cursed gaze. I’d rather gather with people who see the beauty in the bold and understand that art is about more than just filling walls—it’s about making a real impact.

The truth is, I’d rather gather with those who get it than deal with crowds looking for “something to do.”

My art isn’t for everyone—and that’s the point. It’s bold. It’s rebellious. It’s about owning who you are without apology. Trying to fit that into the mainstream rural art scene always felt like squeezing into shoes that are a size too small. Sure, you can shuffle around in them, but by the end of the day, you’re left with nothing but blisters and regrets. I’m done with the pretense of fitting in where it doesn’t align. Instead, I’m crafting a space where art isn’t just seen, but truly felt, where every piece makes an impression that lingers long after the last sip of your spooky cocktail.

Art doesn’t belong in a box, and neither do I.

So I’m doing something different. I’m putting my energy into something that feels real. I’m focusing on building a new kind of art scene. One that’s more about connection than transactions. One that’s less about doing the expected and more about doing what feels right. Will it work? I don’t effn know! But who cares!!!

It’s not about fitting in; it’s about celebrating what makes us different and finding our tribe in the most delightfully awkward way possible.

Cocktails & Canvases. It’s not just another open studio or gallery event. It’s where art lovers, artists, and introverted weirdos (with our superpowers of avoiding each other in social settings) can come together in a space that actually gets us. Here, we can meet, mingle, and enjoy art that challenges the norm, all while embracing our unique quirks and finding comfort in our collective eccentricities.

BOOgie Punk Cocktails & Canvas: September👻

This month’s Cocktails & Canvas takes a spooky turn with our BOOgie Punk theme. It’s all about a dark aesthetic, skulls, and eerie beauty, with my art taking on a Halloween edge. But don’t worry, no costumes are required. After all, we mostly wear black to galleries anyway, right? 🖤

Here’s what you need to know:

So, instead of diving into the traditional studio tour, I’m focusing on something more intimate. I’m crafting a space where those who truly appreciate my art, my message, and my distinctive vibe can come together and feel at home. It’s not about the usual crowd or just catering to tire kickers; it’s about fostering real connections, engaging conversations, and celebrating art that genuinely resonates.

If you’re after the familiar and predictable, this might not be your scene. But if you’re up for an evening of bold, unapologetic art with a hint of spooky flair this month, then Cocktails & Canvases is your spot.

Let’s make something different together. See you at the Cherry Bomb Studio Gallery!
