Embracing the Bougie Punk Vision
Bougie Punk art is all about pushing boundaries and embracing individuality. It starts with a vision—a bold, unapologetic dream of rebellion and sophistication coming together in perfectly imperfect harmony. Think the opulence of centuries-old castles meets the raw energy of punk culture. This is where your unique taste takes center stage fearlessly, triumphantly and boldly proclaiming who you are, in all your messy glory.
No boring walls, no boring life! Here’s a step-by-step guide on how I craft these unapologetically luxurious frames.
The Art of Sculpting (out our lives)
Just like sculpting our lives, each frame begins as a lump of clay—full of potential but requiring work and dedication. (OMG, that was deep and kind of as the kids say, cringe). Crafting 30 to 50 pieces per frame, each rose, wildflower, and blade of grass is a testament to our intricate, beautiful every detail is a labor of love, symbolizing the strength and resilience we embody every day… (🤢 I did it again. Who is this person typing?! Come on Sara!).
Or maybe I just wanted to make a badass frame that screams “look at me!”. I mean, that is totally true too.
Here’s a short list of the creation process for these frames:
- Find the perfect frame: I’ll find these anywhere and everywhere. they can cost $10 to $80n dollars depending on the store and size of frame.
- Conditioning the Clay: Start by kneading Sculpey polymer clay until it’s soft and pliable, ready to be molded into intricate shapes.
- Shaping with Precision: Use sculpting tools to shape each element, paying close attention to details like petals, leaves, and textures.
- Baking to Perfection: After sculpting, bake the clay according to instructions, ensuring each piece hardens perfectly for longevity.
- Assembling with Care: Arrange the sculpted pieces on a wooden frame with precision, creating a balanced composition that speaks to the Bougie Punk aesthetic.
- Gluing it all down: I use wood glue and a lot of it. Now that you’ve arrange the pieces you have to move them all and try to adhere them exactly where they once were. This doesn’t always happen.
Painting with Flair
Once the sculpted elements are dried and secure, it’s time to apply your first coat of spray paint. I’ll choose a palette that complements the portrait and enhances the Bougie Punk vibe which could be gold or black. I’ll add a second and third coats before popping out the oil paints. this is when I focus on shadows and highlights to add depth and realism, bringing the frame to life with flair and attitude.
To ensure your masterpiece stands the test of time, apply a clear sealant over the entire piece. Not only does this protect the paint, but it also gives the frame a polished, luxurious finish that’s sure to impress. Ooh la la!
Never Compromise
At the heart of Bougie Punk art is scrappiness and using what you got to create something of quality. While affordability is always a consideration, I believe in offering the finest quality to all my collectors regardless of the fact that we’re rural – we deserve the finer things in life as well. These frames are more than just art—they’re a declaration of individuality and a refusal to conform to the ordinary. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or someone looking to infuse your space with rebellious luxury, remember that you deserve the best of both worlds.
So go ahead, embrace your inner rebel, and surround yourself with beauty and boldness. Because in the world of Bougie Punk, there’s no room for boring walls or boring lives.
P.S. With this same attitude I’ve decided to open the studio once a month for COCKTAILS & CANVASES. It’s a gathering of like minded art rebels & art enthusiasts. READ MORE ABOUT IT HERE or Join the VIP LIST for your personal invite.
